DHBT is used in cosmetics, hair and skin care products, and mainly, sunscreens. It is a triazine based organic compound that readily absorbs UVA and UVB radiation․ Due to its excellent solubility in a wide range of cosmetic oils, only low levels are needed to incorporate enough active ingredients to reach the high SPFs. Used in concentrations of up to 10%․ It filters UVB rays, and some UVA rays․ It is hardly absorbed by the skin, rarely leads to irritation, causes no allergic reactions and there is no evidence of any toxic or carcinogenic effect. It is very soluble in cosmetic emollients and can readily be incorporated in the oily phase of emulsions.
